Fresh Italian on the shore of Lake Superior. Does it get any better? If you haven’t had a chance to experience it yet, do yourself a favor and make a reservation for Va Bene today.
Embracing their Italian culture, owners Jim and Mary Kay Berarducci opened Va Bene Caffe in 2005. Va Bene features unique, seasonal menus of fresh Italian food made with quality ingredients, to be enjoyed in a casual, friendly atmosphere. Va Bene sits above the Lakewalk, overlooking beautiful Lake Superior. It’s a view that both locals and tourists love.
When the weather is nice, ask to be seated in the open air grotto below the enclosed solarium for an intimate dining experience and breathtaking view of Lake Superior. You can also sit street side on Va Bene’s front patio for excellent people-watching.
The restaurant’s dressings, bread, sauces, soups and delicious desserts are made in-house daily. The lunch and dinner menus feature inventive salads and antipasti, traditional pasta dishes, pizza, steak and fish and a create-your-own pasta bar.
Spend a few minutes on the wine and cocktail menu before you decide. The wine list includes the owners’ favorites, carefully selected to fit the menu and ambience. The drinks are crafted with Italian liqueurs, updated with a modern twist.
On a weekend night, Va Bene is a cozy, bustling restaurant that feels both exciting and comfortable at the same time. If the 13 plus pasta dishes make it hard to decide, ask your server for a recommendation. Every friendly server seems to have his or her own favorite, and it’s always fun to try something new.
Our favorites? Start with the goat cheese crostini and Va Bene salad. For pasta, we love the Gorgonzola gnocchi and the fettuccine carbonara. For dessert, the most important part, we’d go for the bittersweet chocolate truffle cake.
