Let’s hear their story.
Patrick and Sean Bradley of Floor To Ceiling, Duluth
Tell us how Floor to Ceiling came to be.
My father purchased the 4-year-old company Plywood Minnesota in 1974. It was the area’s original drive-through lumberyard. Guided by fashion and the consumer quest for better products, we became “The Floor To Ceiling Store” in 1980, specializing in kitchen and bath, floor covering, and decorator accessories like window treatments and area rugs.
How did you get started?
Like all members of a family business…I started by pushing a broom!
Why did you choose Duluth?
Opportunity! My parents were impressed with the city, even back in the 70’s.
What is one thing your business is primarily known for?
We sell quality fashion for the home, but I think it is our people that make the difference. We are very good at putting it all together for our clients and keeping business local by providing “one stop shopping” for designer home products.
What is your favorite thing about Duluth?
I am always amused when a new visitor to Duluth remarks about how cool we are. Makes me feel fortunate to live in a community that makes such an immediate impression, both with the people and the city itself.
What do you think about the current Duluth economy?
The growth is exciting. It is impressive to see local businesses thrive and new ones willing to call Duluth home.
What would be your advice to someone thinking about opening a new business in Duluth?
