Minnesota Point, which Duluth locals refer to as Park Point, is a 7 mile narrow sand spit that extends off Canal Park. Park Point is technically an island that is connected to the city of Duluth by the Aerial Lift Bridge.
Park Point is the place to be during the warm Duluth summers. Long stretches of clean soft sand allow for beach games, tanning and for the brave– swimming in Lake Superior. If you drive to the end of Park Point you will find soccer fields and beach volleyball courts in front of the beach house, which serves snacks and beverages. In addition to the beaches there are local annual Duluth events that showcase the diversity and culture of Duluth.
One of our favorite events on Park Point is the Park Point Rummage Sale. This sale takes place every year and is a pickers’ paradise of old and new items there is surely something for everyone.
Another great annual event is the Park Point Art Fair! Each year more than 100 artists gather to sell their locally made items. This local Duluth event is free and great for the whole family. There are artists vendors, live music, food vendors and even art making opportunities.
